Annual Student Horse Show

Sunday, September 26th

Our mission at Lothlorien is to develop the highest potential in equine activities. Each year we offer the opportunity to all students to demonstrate their skills and compete in our Student Horse Show. This year's show will be held on Sunday, September 26th; registration is $10.00 per rider.  Deadline for entries will be Wednesday, September 1st, 2010.

Prior to the Horse Show, instructors will help students prepare by introducing and practicing the following:

  • Horsemanship: Mounted class with focus on the rider’s ability to execute a pattern maintaining correct posture, while making it appear effortless.

  • Trail: The ability to negotiate the horse through the arena over and through trail obstacles such as; over poles, and through gates.

  • Barrels: Contest class where a pattern is executed around three barrels in the shortest amount of time without breaking the pattern.

  • Command: Like Simon-Says; however, rider must execute the horsemanship task assigned by the judge within three steps. As level of difficulty increases, riders are eliminated for not performing the task. The rider who completes all the tasks wins.

Lothlorien's Student Horse Show is always a fun, family-oriented event for both competitors and spectators.  We encourage all our riders to participate.
